“Well-behaved women seldom make history.” This quote by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich wasn’t intended to imply that women should misbehave in order to be remembered, but rather a recognition that the positive impacts women have made throughout history are forgotten. These stories are underrepresented in film. Two historical women, E. Jane Manning James and Emma Hale Smith, are remembered and featured in this film where they struggle with questions of faith and acceptance, ultimately laying the foundation for a lifelong friendship.
